Worshiping our Lord since 1850
The Rev. Augustine “Gus” Wright III
The Rev. Gus Wright grew up in Hayward. He attended the First
Presbyterian Church of Hayward during his childhood and youth. He
especially enjoyed participating in the junior high youth group and all-
church conferences. The mission trips to Mexico and inner-city
experiences led him to become involved with Inter-Varsity Christian
Fellowship and World Impact while he was pursuing his Bachelor of Arts
in Speech Communication from CSU-Fresno.
Gus graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary and was ordained in
2001. He has served as the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of
Coalinga and Bakersfield Community Church of Life. In addition to his
service in the Presbyterian Church he considers it a privilege to have
served and ministered also in Lutheran and Methodist churches. His hope
for the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. is that its members would actively
become the messengers of God’s good news in the communities in
which they live and work.
Gus enjoys cooking, gardening, working on his car, waterskiing, and
hiking. He is a learner at heart and loves to explore. He has traveled to
Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Gus met his wife, Ali at the 2003 General Assembly in Denver. They
have been married for five years. Ali will graduate in 2010 with a Master
of Social Work degree from CSU-Bakersfield. The Wrights look forward
to living in Stockton-- a city known for its history, culture and cool delta
breezes.
