| Rev. James Woods on March 17, 1850 established First Presbyterian Church of Stockton with 11 men and one woman. The First Presbyterian Church was the first Presbyterian Church built in California and the second on the Pacific Coast. First Church is the second oldest protestant church in Stockton, with the Methodist Church organizing one day earlier on Saturday the 16th. | Our present church building was dedicated to God in 1923. Even though people notice our beautiful church building located on Vine and El Dorado, it's really the people that make First Church what it is. First Church is a loving and caring family, committed to worshipping God for over 161 years. Over the years the people of First Church have made an impact on our community by helping to establish other churches and leading to find solutions to assist all of God's people. "Here's the church, and here's the steeple, Open the door and see all the people." |
